Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today pulled up Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo who is alleged to have slapped a senior government officer, saying that such conduct was "not becoming of a minister".
Seeking to douse the controversy created by reported incident in which Kitchloo slapped CEO of Kishtwar Development Authority Riyaz Choudhary on April 18, Omar said, "I told him (Kitchloo) that this (slapping a senior officer) is not the conduct that is becoming of a minister. Whatever be the cause, as a public representative such incidents need to be avoided."
"This is what I told to KAS Officers Association as well. They seem to be fairly satisfied. I had a conversation with the minister, he has understood that this should not have happened and will not be repeated again in future," he said.
The Chief Minister directed Kitchloo to sit down with the official concerned and resolve the matter "amicably". The minister has assured him that "such incidents will not be repeated in future," Omar said.
Choudhary had alleged that Kitchloo had slapped him after he could not reach on time at a government function in Kishtwar.
The CEO claimed that while reviewing arrangements ahead of Chief Minister's rally in his home constituency, Kitchloo had slapped him twice after an argument over the official coming late at the venue.
The official alleged he was also beaten by Kitchloo's security staff and supporters.
