Under the agreement, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and NDMCSCL, a public limited company wholly owned by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), will jointly develop e-learning content for skilling in smart cities.
"For effective development of any smart city, skilled workforce is required and this MoU will work towards realising the Smart City Mission envisioned by Prime Minister," Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.
Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said smart city development focuses on employment generation and every smart city needs to have at least one skill development centre.
"NDMC has begun on first of this month identifying skill level gaps (Recognition of Prior Learning) of 10,000 employees of NDMC and the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi, engaged in various job roles like masonry, gardening, safai karmacharis, electricians and security services, for improving their skill levels," an official statement said.
Under the pact, NDMCSCL has decided to develop a World Class Skill Development Centre at Moti Bagh, New Delhi for running futuristic skill development courses such as 3D printing, automation and robotics.
The MoU also envisages setting up of a national-level 'Centre for Excellence' equipped with laboratory having simulated environment for all job roles of healthcare sector.
