Smuggled liquor seized by Excise dept, 2 held

Excise department today seized 340 cartons of smuggled liquor worth Rs 18 lakh from a canter truck on Vijay Nagar Highway and two persons have been arrested in this connection.
Additional Commissioner of Excise Dept D N Singh said that on a tip-off, the Excise team stopped a canter mini-truck and seized 340 cartons containing quarter bottles of Country Made Foreign Liquor (CMFL) worth Rs 18 lakh.
The truck driver and his helper have been arrested, he said.
In another incident, 140 cartons of full bottles of CMFL stored at a house in Shyam Industrial Estate of Loni were seized by Excise department during a raid.

The house owner is yet to be traced, Singh said.
In a third such incident, Indirapuram Police seized 20 cartons of CMFL from an SUV car smuggled from Haryana and the driver of the car identified as Ashok Saini, has been arrested.
