These committees would comprise of village Sarpanch, Panch, former Sarpanch and retired government officers who would check the bills pertaining to the development works, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said while addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of shifting and modernisation of Sugar Mill at Dahar village here.
Bills of development works would be presented before these committees and payment would be made only after approval from these panels, he said.
This would not only ensure transparency in development works of the government but also keep a check on corruption, he said.
He said that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi used to say that out of Rs 1 released by the government, only 15 paisa reached the people. "If the entire Re 1 is spent, the development could be increased by seven times," he added.
