Zahid's body was flown from Delhi to Srinagar in a state aircraft this evening, official sources said.
The sources said Lok Sabha member from south Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti, state Finance Minister Haseeb A Drabu and Law Minister Basharat Bukhari were at the Srinagar airport to receive the body.
Zahid's body will be taken to his native Batengoo village in Anantnag district for performing last rites.
