The AC-III tier coaches will have 64 seats each and they have been authorised to four trains- Awadh-Assam Express (Guwahati-Lalgarh), Lal Quila Express (Kolkata-Delhi), Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Express (Kolkata-Jammu) and Andaman Express (Chennai Central-Jammu)- symbolising all the four corners of the country.
"All the trains will have one additional AC three tier coach for central police forces personnel for a period of one year. This will greatly help in the movement of troops who are going for official duties or on leave," a senior paramilitary official said.
The decision to provide this benefit to the troopers, deployed for internal security duties across the country, was jointly taken by the Union Home and Railway ministries recently.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has been appointed as the nodal agency in this regard.
