DMK working president M K Stalin today solemnised the marriage of a couple, both workers of a dalit-based party, at a wedding hall where the former was detained by police for protesting over the Cauvery issue here.
The couple, belonging to the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, tied the knot in the hall where Stalin and VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan were briefly lodged along with several other opposition party leaders.
Party cadres broke into cheers and greeted the newlyweds.
The opposition parties had staged the protest against the BJP-led central government demanding setting up of the Cauvery Management Board.
