DMK working president M K Stalin today asserted there was no political vacuum in Tamil Nadu and expressed hope his party would capture power in the next assembly elections.

He was taking a veiled dig at Rajinikanth, who had recently said there was a political vacuum in the state and that he would fill it.

Without naming anyone, Stalin said some leaders of parties and political analysts talked of a "political vacuum" in the state.

"I believe that some who claim a political vacuum in Tamil Nadu would change their view after seeing our party conference at Erode (yesterday)," the DMK leader told reporters here.

"DMK will form the government in Tamil Nadu for sure," he added.

The political vacuum perception has gained currency following the death of late chief minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa and after nonagenarian DMK chief M Karunanidhi withdrew from active politics due to age-related health issues.

Virtually staking claim to the legacy of AIADMK founder leader and late chief minister M G Ramachandran (MGR), Rajinikanth, who is set to enter politics, had earlier this month said at an event here that he could give a good rule like the late leader.

Stalin arrived here today after chairing the two-day party zonal conference in Erode.
