State has ample water storage: Dy CM

Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar today said though monsoon has arrived late, with spell of fresh rainfall, an adequate water storage has been done in the state.
Pawar told reporters at the sidelines of a party meeting of the NCP's workers here that currently, there has been enough water stored in dams and reservoirs and that the situation is not grave for farmers.
"Regions of Konkan and Vidarbha have so far received a good rainfall, though in Latur and Beed there is an issue of water scarcity. If weathermen are to be believed, rainfall is anticipated in August. And farming activity is also going in full-swing in the state," he said.

The minister said government has always stood beside the farmers in the time of crisis and has provided all possible aid like waiving off loans, providing free seeds etc.
He said the government is seeking advice from agriculture experts on farming which can produce better yield under prevailing situation.
NCP state president Sunil Tatkare, minister for Food Civil Supplies Anil Deshmukh, MLC Rajendra Jain and Prakash Gajbhiye were also present during the programme.
Meanwhile, Tatkare on a query on seat-sharing between NCP and its ally Congress in the upcoming assembly election in Maharashtra, he said the final decision will be only taken by party chief Sharad Pawar, in his meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, which is likely to be held soon.
