Principal Sessions Judge Audinathan today directed Swamy to appear in court on that day.
City Public Prosecutor (CPP) M L Jegan had filed the cases on behalf of Jayalalithaa before the Court. Swamy's comments in Twitter on September 20 allegedly ridiculed her, the CPP had contended.
He submitted that Jayalalithaa was respected and supported in high esteem by people of all sections and Swamy's statement was defamatory in nature and without any base and verification.
This statement of Swamy was defamatory in nature and would defame the Chief Minister in the eyes of public, the CPP submitted.
