According to former West Indies Players Association (WIPA) President Dinanath Ramnarine, Narine is set to opt out of the 50-over showpiece event and the ex-player even hinted that the decision had to do with continuous work on the off-spinner's under-scanner bowling action.
"Okay guys it's Sunil Narine He will be out of the WC 2015 I wish Sunil all d best as he continues to work very hard on his bowling issues," Ramnarine tweeted.
Despite having not played international cricket since getting reported, Narine was included in the 15-man squad for the World Cup by the Clive Lloyd-led selection committee.
Though there has been no word from Narine and the WICB on the pull-out rumour but all's certainly not well in the West Indies camp after the team had abruptly left the Indian tour mid way in October 2014.
The dispute between the board, players and the WIPA was the reason behind the fiasco and the BCCI has also been pressing for damages worth 42 million Dollars.
Destructive batsman Chris Gayle had also recently made his resentment public when key players Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo were not picked in the World Cup squad.
Earlier Gayle and Narine had refused to sign the annual retainer contracts offered to them by the WICB, while it was learnt that Pollard wasn't offered one by the board.
