The 40-year-old model-turned-actress, who was the first Indian women to win the crown of Miss Universe in 1994, took to Twitter to thank people, who helped her in her pursuit.
"'You'll wear the crown for a year, but INDIA will own the title 1994 forever... Celebrate that always'," she wrote quoting Martin Brooks, president of Miss Universe Organisation in 1994.
The "Main Hoon Na" actress also thanked Miss Colombia Carolina Gomez, 1st runner-up at Miss Universe 1994, for being supportive.
"Thank you @carogomezfilm #MissColombia #1994 for teaching me what 'Grace' is! What a woman!! I love u Carolina," Sushmita wrote.
Sushmita made her Bollywood debut in 1996 with Mahesh Bhatt directed-film "Dastakl".
