"It is strange that the two sworn enemies are now sending alliance proposals. A strange political situation has emerged in West Bengal," Ghosh told reporters here.
The senior BJP leader termed the present law and order situation in state as indescribable, worse than the "previous 34 years of CPI(M) misrule."
"The situation has turned from bad to worse from the CPI(M) regime to Trinamool Congress regime in just five years," Ghosh, on his way to South Dinajpur for a party rally, said.
"Police have lost its identity, assertiveness and turned servants of the ruling party," she said.
In an open call for alliance ahead of polls, former Chief Minister and CPI(M) leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had last week asked the Congress at a Singur rally, "Which side are you on? Which side are you on? In this battle, which side are you on?"
Earlier state opposition leader Suryakanta Mishra had also called upon Congress to arrive at a quick decision.
