The opposition Congress created ruckus today in the Madhya Pradesh assembly, demanding tabling of the report of the judicial commission that probed the death of six farmers in police firing in Mandsaur district last year.
Congress members created pandemonium in the House during discussion on a calling attention motion. Hardeep Singh Dang (Congress) displayed placards carrying messages about his party's demands.
The party's main demand was that the report of the commisison, headed by Justice J K Jain, be tabled in the assembly which opened for its monsoon session today.
"Take action against the guilty officers and take back the cases filed against the innocent farmers (during a protest)," read the messages on the placards held by Dang, who was supported by other members of his party.
Amid the ruckus, Speaker Sitasharan Sharma adjourned the House for 10 minutes.
After the members reassembled, Sharma completed the listed business and adjourned the House for the day.
Later, talking to reporters in the assembly premises, Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh of the Congress said his party repeatedly demanded that the state government table the report on killing of farmers so that discussion on the issue could be held in the House.
However, the BJP government was unwilling to table and report and share its findings, he said.
Dang, the MLA from Suasara in Mandsaur district, said, "We will not allow any injustice to be meted out to farmers. During the protest last year, cases were registered against 700 farmers. These cases should be withdrawn."
