Take lessons from Ramayana: Virbhadra Singh tells people

Ramayana is a symbol of Indian culture, religion and moral values and people should adopt its preachings in their lives, said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today.
The original Ramayana authored by Maharshi Valmiki taught virtues, morality selfless service, sacrifice and devotion, which are the essence of a value-based society, the Chief Minister said while speaking on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti at Krishnanagar Colony today.
Maharishi Valmiki spread the message of philosophy, humanity and virtue of friendship to the people and taught about selfless service for the society which is the core value of the Indian religion, he said.
Singh said that his government was committed to balanced development of the state and a number of welfare schemes were being implemented to achieve the objective.

He said that Rs 1014 crore was being spent under the Schedule Caste Sub Plan during the current financial year. The Central government has sanctioned Rs 33.99 crore for Krishnanagar slum area under Rajiv Awas Yojna and the first instalment of Rs. 9.26 crore has already been received, he said.
Singh that that the government was providing Rs 75,000 as housing subsidy for the construction of new houses to SC/ST and OBC beneficiaries. He said that state government was providing incentive of Rs 50,000 for inter-caste marriages.
Chief Minister said that the roads linking the Krishnanagar area would be widened. This will also help in providing better ambulance services, he said.

Singh directed the Deputy Commissioner to identify a suitable land for the construction of a grand Valmiki temple and said that government school at Krishnanagar would be upgraded to the high school level from the next academic session.
