Tata Steel is organizing 'Samvaad' - A Tribal Conclave, from November 15 with about 2000 tribals representing 20 states in Jamshedpur .
Themed "Tribal Health Systems", Samvaad will draw around 250 traditional healers, who would participate in panel discussions at Tribal Culture Centre, Sonari in the steel city, Biren Bhuta, Chief of Corporate Social Responsibility Tata Steel, told a press conference here today.
Topics ranging from 'Anaemia and its solution', 'Tribal Medicinal System', 'Capacity Building for tribal healthcare', 'Tribals and their relationship with forest' will be at the core of the panel discussions.
Bhuta said the discussion would help each other's medicinal system.
Age-old medicines on which tribal communities still rely despite modern healthcare services can be observed from close quarters at an exposition on tribal medicines.
Saying that this is the third edition celebrated on November 15 to mark Birsa Munda birth anniversary and the first national-level conclave broadening it across the country, Bhuta said the aim of the conclave was to give a platform ---- "Tribals Perspective on Development"--- to capture voices of tribal communities, their problems and strategies to counter them.
"They have many things to give---nutrition and traditional wisdom," he said.
A tribal fashion show is scheduled on November 19 to highlight tribal designs.
"Tribal fashion can be really become fashionable if they get a platform," Bhuta said.
A handicraft exhibition-cum-sale would showcase items crafted and sculpted by tribes from different parts of the country.
