Flagging off the trek from his residence in Bijapur, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat said he saluted the team's courage and added that their journey will send a message to the world that the road to Kedarnath is safe and secure.
The participants will cover a distance of 19 km from Sonprayag to Kedarnath base camp. They will reach the shrine on April 24, when the doors of the temple are to be thrown open to pilgrims.
The other members of the trekking team are Suranjan Singh, Laxmi Prasad, Dinesh Bijalwan and Dhirendra Singh.
