Chandrabhan Sanap (38) was produced before a Magistrate, who passed an order asking authorities to keep the accused ready for the test identification parade and also for medical examination.
Sanap was arrested on March 3 from Nashik and brought to Mumbai. He resembled the man who was spotted with Anuhya (23) in a CCTV footage at Kurla railway terminus on January 5, the day she went missing, police said.
The victim's decomposed body was found off the Eastern Express Highway in suburban Bhandup on January 16. Several teams were formed to achieve a breakthrough in the case.
The victim, a native of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh, was employed with IT major TCS at its office in suburban Goregaon.
According to police, Sanap allegedly sweet-talked Anuhya by promising her to drop at her hostel in suburban Andheri in a cab.
He, however, carried her on his bike instead and took her to the deserted spot. After robbing her off her belongings, the accused allegedly raped her before banging her head on ground and strangling her with her stole, police said.
