Nobel peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi today said technology can be used to put an end to sexual abuse and trafficking of children.
He urged the industry to come up with technological solutions for social problems.
"As industry, you know how to run business. Corporates are the problem solvers. Doing business is perceived to be earning profits. You have social responsibility towards the society," a release quoted him as saying at an interaction with industry representatives here.
Satyarthi, who was in Hyderabad as part of his Bharat Yatra against child sexual abuse and trafficking, asked them to join his fight against the social problems.
"Our children are not safe anywhere; not in their own homes, not in their neighbourhoods and not even in their schools. Anyone can turn into a predator. In the name of family honour and shame, the voices of victims are suppressed at every point.
"Parents have no time for their own children. Children have nobody at home to share their pain, problems. Children are feelings suffocated from inside," he said.
Replying to query, Kailash Satyarthi said governments, corporates and civil society must work hand in hand in addressing many social menaces such as atrocities against children, child labour.
