"Technology has to play a big role in keeping an eye on criminals in today's world. Policemen have to change both their attitude and aptitude and be tech-savvy to keep an eye on criminals," Rawat said while launching a mobile app of Uttarakhand police aimed to make it more easily accessible to people.
Praising the state police for launching the app, the chief minister said it was a good step forward.
The 3 MB android-based mobile app can be downloaded from Google play store.
People in trouble can touch the "I Need Help option" for immediate police help as it gives the GPS location of the complainant, DIG Sanjay Gunjyal said at the launch.
Currently available only in Garhwal, the service will soon be extended to the rest of the state, he said.
