Telangana: surprise checks at seed, fertiliser outlets

The Vigilance and Enforcement Department officials today conducted surprise inspections at 45 outlets of seeds, fertilisers and pesticides across Telangana and seized a stock estimated to be worth Rs 6.5 crore.
A special drive was conducted to inspect seed processing plants, seeds and fertilisers retail and wholesale dealers, said Vigilance and Enforcement Director Amit Garg.
A total of 20 cases were registered under relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act apart from a case under the IPC.
The Department has been conducting inspection to curb illegal sale and storage of seeds, fertilisers and pesticides.
Some of the outlets where inspection was conducted were found to be violating Seed Act and Insecticide Act.
