This was stated by Director General of Police Anurag Sharma here today.
The decision to set up STFs was taken at a meeting of a high-level committee chaired by Sharma, which met in the DGP office to discuss the action plan to eradicate adulteration of food items in the state.
The committee has decided to create 16 STFs to check food adulteration with the help of GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation), medical, health and police departments, according to an official release.
Sharma said the local police officers will be sensitised on the matter so that food adulteration, spurious seeds, fertilisers and pesticides are checked immediately.
According to the release, the DGP said the panel examined the feasibility of invoking the stringent Preventive Detention (PD) Act against repeat offenders.
