According to the CPI(M), Singh assured the delegation of taking action on the issues raised by them.
The party alleged that Singh, however, was at "loss of words" when the delegation members asked him about steps the government was taking to ensure security of citizens, saying it was a state subject.
The delegation comprised CPI(M) politburo member Brinda Karat and secretaries for Haryana and Delhi of the Left parties, Surinder Malik and K M Tewari respectively.
Sons of Mohammed Aqlakh and Pehlu Khan, victims of Dadri (Uttar Pradesh) and Alwar (Rajasthan) lynching incidents, also accompanied the delegation, the party said in a statement.
Addressing the dharna, Karat accused the government of being a joint venture of the BJP-RSS combine which is "bent on implementing the agenda of Hindutva".
"There is a need for unity to fight the government, but we have to prevent the division of people's minds and hearts which is what the RSS is working for," Karat was quoted as saying in the statement.
Hannan Mollah, another politburo member, strongly condemned the Centre over its May 23 notification banning sale and purchase of cattle from animal market for slaughter, terming it as "an instrument to destroy the livelihood of farmers".
