Temperatures up, Telangana & Odisha feel the heat

The temperatures remained above the normal levels in several parts of the country as many cities in Odisha and Telangana recorded their maximum temperatures in excess of 40 degrees Celsius.
It was a hot day in the national capital where the maximum temperature rose to settle at 37.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average.
The minimum temperature was pegged at 20.7 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, a senior Met department official said.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 34 degrees Celsius yesterday. The minimum was 20.
Large parts of Telangana continued to reel under intense heat where Bhadrachalam sizzled at 44.2 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature recorded in the state so far this summer.

Yanambailu village recorded maximum temperature of 44.1 degree Celsius. Both Bhadrachalam and Yanambailu are located in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.

Wyra, in Khammam district, recorded 44 degrees Celsius, according to Telangana State Development Planning Society.
Dry weather is likely to prevail over Telangana and maximum temperatures are likely to remain 2 to 3 notches abve the normal levels tomorrow.
Intense heatwave conditions prevailed in most parts of Odisha with the mercury hovering above 40 degrees Celsius in at least 10 places and the state capital witnessing a big jump in temperature.
Malkangiri was the hottest place in the state at 42.8 degree Celsius, while the western region also continued to sizzle under searing heat, the Met office said.

The maximum temperature in Bhubaneswar soared to 40.6 degrees compared to 37.5 degree Celsius yesterday. The mercury rose to 38.8 from 36.8 in neighbouring Cuttack.
In western Odisha, Balangir recorded the maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Titlagarh at 41.5 degree C and Angul at 41.1 degree C, the Met office said.
While Talcher registered 40.8 degree C, the maximum temperature was 40.4 degree C at Jharsuguda, 40.3 degree C at Hirakud, 40.1 degree at Sambalpur and 40 degree at Sundargarh.
Gujarat's Sunder Nagar was the hottest place in the state at 43.5 degrees Celsius followed by Bhuj (43.3) and Naliya and Porbandar (43.0 degrees Celsius each).

Most parts of Uttar Pradesh however witnessed normal temperatures despite the continuing dry spell in the state.
The MeT office said the day temperatures remained below normal in Gorakhpur, Faizabad and Kanpur divisions, and normal elsewhere. Hamirpur was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 40.2 degree Celsius.
Weather conditions remained dry in Bihar where Gaya was the hottest place at 38.5 degrees Celsius. In Patna, the maximum temperature was 37.4 degrees Celsius against yesterday's 36.8, a MeT office bulletin said.
The MeT department has forecast mainly clear sky for tomorrow in the major cities of Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea.

The Chhattisgarh government meanwhile has directed all chief medical and health officers (CMHOs) in the state to take effective measures to prevent spread of seasonal diseases during summer.
Director, Health Services, yesterday issued a circular instructing the CMHOs of all 27 districts in state.
