Ten persons were injured in a clash with police when they tried to resist arrest of some village leaders at Selam in Champhai district, police said today.
Police had to fire teargas shells to disperse the agitators including women and children who staged a protest to resist arrest of 11 village leaders yesterday, DIG (Northern Range) Zorammuana said.
The injured were brought to nearby Hnahlan village last night for medical treatment.
The trouble began on May 16 when some timbers were confiscated from some villagers for allegedly taking those from the nearby Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary.
The villagers struck back and torched one mini truck brought to carry the confiscated timbers.
