Tharoor not being isolated by anybody in Cong: Chennithala

Shashi Tharoor is not being "isolated" in Congress and he is part and parcel of the party, Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said today, after the former Union minister wrote to party president stating that his services have "neither been seen nor appreciated".
"He (Tharoor) is not being isolated by anybody. He is part and parcel of the party... We will not accept any kind of attempt to isolate him and he is part and parcel of Congress," senior party leader Chennithala told reporters here.
His comments came in the wake of Tharoor, a Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, complaining to party president Sonia Gandhi that his "sincere" services to the party have "neither been seen nor appreciated".

"Shashi Tharoor is an international personality... We have recognised his abilities and qualities and that is why when I was PCC president he was given a seat. I do not think anybody will isolate him. He has expressed his agony," former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee chief Chennithala said.
The Kerala Home Minister, meanwhile, denied reports that his cabinet colleague Ibrahim Kunju, the PWD Minister, had complained about him over the issue of suspension of officials with the State Construction Corporation.
"A prima facie case has been identified in the State Construction Corporation. One petition has been received by the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau.

"The preliminary enquiry revealed that there is a prima facie case. Case has been registered in their board. In that board two people are members and they happened to be the Chief Engineers. So, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Director recommended for that. As a Minister of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Corporation, I have to accept that. I had followed all the procedures," he said.

Earlier in the day, Chennithala met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and appraised him about the situation in Kerala.
The Kerala Home Minister also sought establishing the coastal police headquarters in the light of increasing terror activities through the sea route and an additional reserved battalion for the state.

Asked about the activities of Islamic State terrorists in Kerala, he said, "Major problem is not in Kerala. We must be vigilant and we are doing that.
