Three arrested for cheating a bank

Three persons, including a woman who were allegedly trying to cheat a bank to the tune of Rs 40 lakh by applying for a home loan on forged documents in Mayapuri area of West Delhi, have been arrested.
The three accused have been identified as Mohan Kumar alias Vijay Goyal (42), Anita alias Manju (41) and Inderjeet Singh (34) have been arrested in this connection, police said.
During investigation, it was learnt that Mohan Kumar had opened bank accounts at several locations for the purpose of committing cheating. Anita is in a live-in relationship with Kumar for the last one year.
Inderjeet Singh is an expert in getting loan on the basis of forged document from banks. He had recently come in contact of Kumar a few months ago. He had arranged for PAN cards and other documents, they said.
The incident took place yesterday. Mohan Kumar and Manju had applied for a loan of Rs 40 lakh through broker Inderjeet Singh. They had also applied for opening of a savings bank account and submitted documents and the statement of an account of Andhra bank and voter ID cards.
"On scrutiny of the documents, Shailash Ranjan, Manager, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, Nangal Raya Branch in Mayapuri found the documents suspicious and questioned them. As they could not give any satisfactory reply, he informed the local police station at Mayapuri," said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Ranveer Singh.
A police team rushed to the bank and examined the suspects. They also verified all the documents which were found forged/faked. On the basis of statement of the bank manager a case under section 420, 468, 471 and 120B IPC was registered at Mayapuri Police Station and the trio was arrested, said Singh.
From the trio, police recovered 12 mobile phones taken on forged documents along with passbooks/cheque books of several banks and other forged documents.
Rs 60,000 cash and one Hyundai I 10 car was recovered from Inderjeet Singh while Rs 1.20 lakh cash and a Skoda was recovered from Mohan Kumar.
