Consequent upon the disqualification of the three former NCP MLAs from the 12th Nagaland Assembly with effect from June 16 by the Speaker on grounds of Anti-Defection Law, the three seats occupied by the disqualified members have become vacant, stated a notification issued by Assembly Secretary A E Lotha here today.
The disqualification of the three former NCP MLAs including former president of state NCP Imtilemba Sangtam, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Dr TM Lotha and MLA Mmhonlumo Kikon, was ordered by the Speaker yesterday.
With this, there are presently four vacant seats in the 60-member state Assembly as the 11-Northern Angami-II A/C seat had lying been vacant since the election of then Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to the Lok Sabha in May.
