Gajendran, Senthilvelan and Rajah claimed while speaking in a shop in an inebriated mood that they earned three kg of gold as commission for smuggling gold from Sri Lanka into India in over 20 trips. In their last trip they had smuggled 18kg of gold for commission.
Police, who overheard it taken them for questioning.
Police seized three cars used by them to transport the gold via Rameswaram to Chennai and other places. They seized unspecified quantity of cash also from them.
