During a search conducted in the company's offices, it was found that it had collected service tax from 2010 but did not pay it to the Government, Additional Director General of Central Excise Intelligence Unit A K Singh said.
"On enquiry, the Director of the company admitted that the company had collected and not paid service tax liability of Rs 2.94 crore for period upto March 2015", he said in a presss release.
The official was arrested on September 21 under the provisions of the Section 91 of the Finance Act, 1994.
He was produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate - EO II Court, in the city and was remanded to judicial custody, the release added.
