An estimated Rs 10 crore would be needed for the project and the funds would be made available under the coastal tourism development project, he said, inaugurating the world tourism day celebrations in the neighbouring district of Udupi yesterday, a release here said.
The reconstruction of roads in the coastal district would ensure better connectivity, enhancing beach tourism and water sports. There was also tremendous scope for pilgrimage tourism in the district, connecting the Sri Krishna temple at Udupi and Sri Mookambika temple at Kollur, he said.
The State government had sent a proposal last year to the Centre seeking relaxation of the Coastal Regulation Zone norms in the twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi to promote tourism, which had been done in Kerala and Goa and was awaiting a response, he said.
