Goa tourism department has tied up with upcoming Bollywood film 'Finding Fanny' which has been shot in Goa as a part of its brand activation campaign, a senior official said today.
"We have tied up with the film as a part of our brand activation campaign. It is time for us to make tourists aware about our new branding strategy," Goa Tourism Development Corporation's Managing Director Nikhil Desai told PTI today.
The department, through its brand consultant company Chlorophyll, has partnered with the Deepika Padukone-Arjun Kapoor starrer movie to promote Goa as "a land of contrasts".
Directed by Homi Adajania, 'Finding Fanny' is an English/Hindi satirical film and has actors Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapur in key roles.
The movie has been shot at various locations of Goa, many of which have never been shown in other Hindi films.
"We are piggybacking on this film to popularise Goa. We had similar association with Aamir Khan starrer 'Dil Chahta Hai' in 2001. It was a television campaign and we almost had a 20 per cent rise in tourist footfalls. The spots shown in the film became popular overnight," he added.
'Finding Fanny' has been shot at places like Lisbon House in Assagao village, Siolim bridge, Three King's Church, St Jacinto Bridge, Divar island and other places.
Brand Strategy Head, Chlorophyll, Chitresh Sinha said that the film is about five characters who are on a hunt to find 'Fanny' in the land of contrast.
