An FIR has been lodged against Shiv Shankar Rathi, Madhukar Singhal, Subhash Gupta, Subodh Gupta and Aditya Garg and 40 unidentified persons for misbehaving and obstructing government servants in discharge of their duties, they said.
The excise team raided the house of iron trader Aditya Garg in Kavi Nagar colony for evading tax liability to the tune of several crores, SHO Kavi Nagar police station said.
During the search, several traders and their leaders arrived and obstructed the team in performance of their official work, he said.
The search operation was later resumed in the presence of Kavi Nagar police and continued for 5 hours.
Based on the complaint of the excise officials, an FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC.
