"Single tube traffic on important 4th bridge on river Tawi will be restored by September 12," Minister for Roads and Buildings Abdul Rehman Veeri said here after reviewing the status of renovation works on the 4th bridge being executed by the Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC).
Managing Director JKPCC Dilip Thusoo apprised the minister about the status of various projects following which Veeri directed him to expedite the pace of works and ensure their timely completion.
Heavy traffic jams are witnessed in Canal and Bakshinagar roads- connecting two sides of Jammu on Tawi river throughout the day due to the closure of the second most trafficable bridge of Jammu City.
He asked the officers concerned to put in efforts to create durable assets for the society and also initiate the construction works of New Polytechnic Colleges at Udhampur, Kishtwar, Doda and Poonch.
While reviewing the status of works at New Legislative Complex Jammu, he directedMD JKPCC to expedite the pace of works on the project.
While reviewing the status of road works, it was informed to the chair that JKPCC is executing works on 13 roads at an estimated cost of Rs 218.85 crore.
A total of 147 works of Health and Medical, Education, Technical Education, R&B and other departments have been taken up by the corporation in Jammu province at an estimated cost of Rs 1,751.12 crore for which Rs 829.88 crore had already been released, MD said.
Veeri said the people have huge expectations especially of far flung areas and that can be fulfilled with the efforts of JKPCC.
