CPI(M) seeks resumption of Indo-Pak talks; CBMs for JK

The CPI(M) today sought resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue and announcement of confidence building measures like withdrawal of AFSPA from civilian areas to bring peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury, who visited the state as part of the all party delegation on September 4 and 5, said the government should initiate "dual track" approach for bringing peace in the restive Kashmir Valley.
"We have suggested that the government should start dual track approach. There should be confidence building measures (CBMs) like withdrawal of pellet guns and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from civilian areas, judicial investigation on missing persons, treatment to injured and employment opportunities," he said after attending a meeting of the all-party delegation.

Yechury said Indo-Pak dialogue should be started and Pakistan be cornered in international forums for its "interference" in Jammu and Kashmir.
"If the Prime Minister is going to Pakistan for SAARC Summit, the Indo-Pak dialogue which was announced by this government must be resumed. Pakistan should also be put in the dock in international forums for its interference in Kashmir," he said.
Yechury said an unconditional political dialogue with all stake holders must be initiated.
Asked about the "insult" inflicted by the separatists on the delegation by not meeting its members, including him, Yechury quoted Lord Buddha to say, "They threw an insult at me but I did not receive it.
