Trained CSR professionals to be ready by July: IICA

Around 200 trained CSR (corporate social responsibility) professional would be made available in the market by July, the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) said.
"We need 30,000 trained CSR professionals in India. Hence, IICA is offering a nine-month online training program. The first batch of 200 trained CSR professionals will be out into the market this July," Bhaskar Chatterjee, DG & CEO of IICA under the ministry of corporate affairs, said at an event here today.
He said around 30,000 directors would be directly involved in the overall implementation process of CSR by the companies.
Chatterjee said there was a need to create an NGO hub to be empanelled as credible implementing agencies.
He said companies need not do CSR activities in and around their manufacturing and production centres. "They can implement their CSR projects anywhere in the country."
The official warned that companies which did not comply with the rules laid down in the law may face severe punishment.
