A day after she was attacked during an anti-drug drive in a North Delhi market, AAP MLA Alka Lamba was today booked for trespass and damage to property after a video clip emerged in which she was seen vandalising shops along with some of her supporters.
On her part, Lamba filed a complaint with the Delhi Commission for Women against BJP lawmaker OP Sharma for calling her a "drug addict". AAP alleged that the BJP legislator was behind the attack on Lamba yesterday and that the video was shot from Sharma's shop.
A senior Police official said a case against Lamba was registered at Kashmere Gate police station under Sections 451 (trespass), 427(mischief causing damage), 186 (deter public servant from official duty) of IPC on a complaint of traders including properitor of the sweet shop Shiv Mishthan Bhandar where she was hit by a stone.
The CCTV camera footage recovered from the shop showed Lamba toppling the billing machine while one of her colleagues was seen pushing everything from a table and jostling with cops.
"The shop is believed to be owned by O P Sharma. The stone thrower is an employee in that shop," AAP leader Ashutosh said, adding, "Fight against drug menace is not easy. We are ready to face the wrath of drug lords. AAP's fight will continue."
Lamba claimed the 30 second CCTV footage was from Sharma's shop and it was shot after she was attacked.
In the wee hours of yesterday, Lamba was attacked during an anti-drugs campaign in Kashmere Gate area where she sustained head injuries. AAP suspected BJP's Vishwas Nagar MLA Sharma's involvement in the incident.
Lamba said the raid was aimed at shops in the area which were operating illegally and helping drug peddlers.
Earlier in the day, Sharma kicked up a row terming Lamba a "drug addict", as he questioned her motive behind the night operation.
Alleging the involvement of Lamba, the Chandni Chowk MLA, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's "goons" in vandalising shops in Chandi Chowk, Sharma threatened retaliation by "lathi-wielding" BJP workers in future in case of such incidents.
