Tributes paid to first HP CM on 106th birth anniversary

Floral tributes were paid to Parmar's statue at Ridge while a function was held in the Legislative Assembly complex to celebrate his birth anniversary.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal described Parmar as a great visionary and a fighter who ensured separate identity of the hill state and laid the foundation for its development.

He said Parmar always thought of the overall development of the state and upliftment of the poor, and welfare of the common man was his priority.

Horticulture, power and roads were identified by him as key areas of development and the state has realised his cherished dreams to a large extent, he said.

Dhumal said there was a dire need to rise above petty politics and work whole-heartedly for the cause of the people of the state irrespective of any consideration of caste, creed and region.

He said progress and development started by successive governments should not abate and should be sped up.

Legislative Assembly Speaker, Tulsi Ram Sharma said Parmar was a visionary who realised that horticulture, roads and education were core areas on which overall development of the state rests.
