"BJP has included the triple talaq issue in its manifesto though it is under consideration of the Supreme Court and on February 5, senior minister Ravi Shankar Prasad asked the opposition parties to clarify their views on it," AIMWPLB President Shaista Amber said.
"They are themselves a party in the case in the apex court which will take up the matter on February 14... Using this issue as a political tool is wrong and EC needs to issue notice to BJP and Ravi Shankar Prasad for it," she said.
He had said the Centre might take appropriate steps to ban triple talaq after the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls as the tradition "denies" respect to women.
The state goes to polls in seven phases starting February 11.
