Tripura govt welcomes SC decision to admit SLP on teachers

Tripura Minister for School Education Tapan Chakraborty today said the Supreme Court's decision to admit the Special Leave Petition against a Tripura High Court order dispensing with the services of 10,323 teachers came as a "relief" to the government.
"The apex court division bench of Justice J S Kehar and Justice R K Agarwal today admitted the SLP filed by the state government against the Tripura High Court order dispensing with the services of 10,323 teachers. It came as a relief," he told reporters after the case was admitted in the Supreme Court.
He said the Special Leave Petition has been posted for hearing on September 12 next.

"We are waiting for the final verdict," minister said.
A division bench of Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Swapan Chandra Das of the Tripura High Court had on May 7 terminated the jobs of the teachers as it found the recruitment was not transparent. It also asked the state government to start fresh recruitment process by December 2014.
The Tripura government had recruited 1,100 post-graduate, 4,617 graduate and 4,606 under-graduate teachers since 2010.
