"Till 4 PM approximately 66 per cent voters have cast their votes and the percentage is likely to climb when the polls come to a close," Chief Electoral Officer F R Kharkongor said.
"Voting was peaceful with no reports of any untoward incidents in all the 495 polling booths, except for technical glitches in eight EVMs which were replaced," he said.
Over 6,22,000 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in today's polling, the counting of which will be held on May 19.
The contest for the Tura seat is between P A Sangma's youngest son Conrad K Sangma and Congress candidate and Chief Minister Mukul Sangma's wife Dikkanchi D Shira.
