"In order to curtail the activities of hardcore criminals and bovine smugglers, notorious criminal Mohmmad Aslam of Samba district has been arrested under Public Safety Act (PSA)," a police officer said today.
He was lodged at Sub Jail Hiranagar in Kathua district.
Aslam was involved in various cases ofrobbery, theft, attempt to murder, rioting etc., in Samba and adjoining districts, the officer said.
The modus operandi of the accused was to sell therobbed property to the scrap dealers besides selling the bovines to the smugglers, he said.
He was absconding in a theft case from past four years, police said.
