On receiving information, a police party intercepted a car in which a man posing himself as Maharashtra cadre IPS officer and another as Sub-Inspector-cum-reader of the officer were travelling, Qadian SHO Kulwant Singh said.
On interrogation, they told the police that they were trying to recruit unemployed youths for Maharashtra police.
At the time of arrest, both were attired in Maharashtra police uniform, the SHO said.
They were identified as Harpreet Singh, a resident of Tattle village under Qadian police station and Ranjit Singh, a resident of Bhumbli village under Tibber police station.
Police also recovered fake identity cards from them and their car was impounded.
A case has been registered against the duo, he said.
