Two school studentas killed in accident

Two school students travelling in a vehicle died in an accident at Bengjuli in Assam's Barpeta district today, a police officer said.
Altogether 19 students of Denartari Sarbajanin Jatiya Vidyalaya were travelling in a mini bus in the morning when its driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to skid off the road and fall into a roadside water body, the officer said.
Two school students identified as Rahul Ahmed (9), a student of class III of Bengjuli and Rakibul Islam of Class VIII died on the spot, while 17 others were rescued, they officer said.
Stating the driver of the vehicle fled after the accident, the officer said the enraged public set the vehicle on fire.
Inspector of Bhabanipur out post Gobinda Deka and Assistant Sub Inspector Nurul Islam Talukdar were attacked by the public when police tried to prevent them from burning the vehicle.
The guardians of the students and public claimed that they had repeatedly urged the school authority to replace the worn out vehicle but they "remained indifferent".
