Gold weakens on selling, silver eases on global cues

Gold prices weakened further to hit three week lows to revisit the 25,000 per 10 grams at the domestic bullion market here on sustained stockists and traders selling in the backdrop of uncertain international markets.
Silver also eased owing to speculative selling following reduced industrial offtake.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) fell by Rs 260 to end at Rs 25,985 per 10 grams from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 26,245.
Pure gold (99.9 purity) also slumped by a similar margin to conclude at Rs 26,135 per 10 grams as compared to Rs 26,395 previously.
Silver (.999 fineness) slipped by Rs 95 per kg to finish at Rs 35,725 from overnight level of Rs 35,820.
Globally, in New York gold futures logged their lowest settlement in late yesterday trade amid rise in Asian and European equities and strength in US dollar lured investors away from the precious metals.
Gold for December delivery dropped USD 19 to settle at USD 1,102 an ounce, while December silver lost 17.90 cents to USD 14.576 an ounce.
