Two sisters killed as house collapses due to rains in Rajasthan's Baran

Two girls were killed and four of their relatives injured when the roof of their house collapsed in rain-hit Baran district in the early hours Saturday, police said.

Police said the incident took place in Kunwarpura village in the Kawai police station area at around 3 am.

They said the walls of the house had weakened over time due to seepage of rainwater from the adjoining agriculture fields. The roof of the house fell on the asleep family members.

Laxmi Bairagi (10) and her sister Pinki (15), who had come to their relatives' house from Jhalawar district, were killed in the incident.

Four others suffered injuries and are undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Baran, Station House Officer, Kawai police station, Dalveer Singh Fojdaar said.

The region has been receiving moderate to heavy rain fall since last evening and rivers are in spate, he added.
