Congress leaders from Uttarakhand will begin a protest from tomorrow outside the residence of state BJP MPs, accusing the Centre of "ignoring the interests" of the hill state.
The first part of agitation named 'Give Uttarakhand its right and justice' will begin with a protest called "Jawab Do, Hisab Do" by Uttarakhand Congress leaders outside the residence of former Chief Minister and BJP MP from Haridwar Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank.
Talking to reporters at a press conference here, state chief Kishor Upadhyay alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going back on the promises he had made to people of Uttarakhand in run up to the last Lok Sabha polls and BJP MPs from the state state have "shut their eyes".
"Ever since the BJP government has come to power at Centre, the interests of Uttarakhand are being ignored even as BJP got an unprecedented victory in Lok Sabha elections from the state," he said.
The state Congress chief also demanded a special industrial package for the hill state and a separate package of Rs 10 thousand crore.
Upadhyay also demanded that the "cut of Rs 5000 crore made in Union Budget for Uttarakhand" be given back to it and a sum of Rs 1000 crore should be sanctioned for Ardha Kumbh in Haridwar.
He said the residence of BJP MPs in Delhi will be gheraoed as part of the programme in protest against Centre "ignoring" the interests of Uttarakhand.
Claiming that the earlier UPA governments led by Congress at Centre never adopted a casual approach towards the interests of Uttarakhand.
Besides, the Congress workers will also hold protest against the Union Ministers whenever and wherever they visit in Uttarakhand.
