22-year-old Sunil Kishor, who did odd jobs as labourer, was arrested from Kapashera area of South West Delhi for allegedly torching eight motorbikes in the past 10 days, Surender Kumar, DCP (south west) said today.
On May 28, he had torched three motorcycles and other two-wheelers parked in Gali number 7 of Kapashera and the act was recorded on a CCTV camera there, the DCP said.
The footage shows him removing fuel pipe from a motorbike and throwing a matchstick on the spilling petrol, he said.
The DCP said that during interrogation, Sunil "admitted" to his involvement in the crime and said he had a "craze" for motorbikes but couldn't buy one for himself and developed jealousy towards those who possessed it.
Sunil told police he "satisfied the jealousy" by torching motorbikes at night, the officer said.
