Union min Dattatreya seeks in-depth probe into SIMI activities

Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya today urged the Home Ministry to involve central probe agencies like NIA for an in depth investigation into the activities of SIMI in Telangana, in the wake of shooting of two alleged activists of the terror outfit in Nalgonda.
The senior BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment said the incident has "spread fears" in the mind of the people of Telangana and urged the Centre look into the "general" law and order situation.
Dattatreya, who represents Secunderabad constituency of Telangana, today met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and sought involvement of National Investigation Agency and Intelligence Bureau into the matter.

"I look forward to your kind intervention to involve premiere investigating agencies to probe the incident in Nalgonda district particularly and to study the general law and order issue in Telangana, which is known to be the target over the years of nationally and internationally banned outfits, who are known to create terror to gain national and international attention," he said in a representation to Singh.
"As this incident points to involvement of nationally banned militant outfit like SIMI and as it is spreading fear in the minds of Telangana people, the intervention of national probe agencies like NIA (National Investigation Agency) and IB is required to take up in depth investigation," he said in the representation.

The meeting comes on a day when five persons, including founder of local militant group Tehreek-Ghalba-e-Islam (TGI) Viqaruddin Ahmed were killed in an encounter with police in Telangana's Warangal district.
Claiming that Hyderabad had been a place known for nurturing militant activities by banned militant outfits, he said that it is all the more necessary to take up an in-depth investigation into the recent incident and its repercussions.
