Uniphore Software Systems, a speech recognition solutions company, which has Infosys co-founder Krish Gopalakrishnan among its investors, today said it plans to enhance its women employee workforce to 50 per cent in the next 12-18 months.
"Uniphore has started a special HR initiative, where they have planned to enhance their female employee workforce to 50 per cent in the next 12 -18 months, and within six months they have achieved 25 per cent mark," Uniphore Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President (HR) Sanjeev Gadre told PTI here.
However, before this, the Chennai-based company plans to achieve the target of employing 33 per cent female workforce, Gadre said.
"To reach 33 per cent of female workforce is not a stretchable task, but to achieve 50 per cent is a difficult proposition because there are lesser women who are qualified as core engineers, and also there is a gender bias in the hiring process. The most important being the indifferent working hours for women," he said.
The firm has put in place "40 hours core working policy a week", which has been the main factor for it to enhance female workforce to 25 per cent in last six months, Gadre said.
The company, founded in 2008 by Umesh Sachdev (Chief Executive Officer) and Ravi Saraogi (Chief Operational Officer), has an impressive list of clients in India, including State Bank of India, Axis Bank, Cholamandalam and ITC, among others.
The company aims to have annual revenue of USD five million by this year.
Gadre said at present the firm has 90 employees and plans to reach the 200 target in next 12 to 15 months.
Asked about plans to provide services in foreign languages, Gadre said the company has opened offices in the Philippines and the UAE and plans to provide services in Arabic and Filipino.
